Uyghurs

The Uyghur are an ethnic group of central Asia .They are one of China`s 56 officially recognized ethnicities ,consisting of 8.68 million people. According to the 2004 Chinese census ,but this may be an under-estimation .Throughout the history of central Asia ,they left a lasting imprint on both the culture and tradition.Today in China ,uyghurs live primary in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Resign.There are also existing uyghur communities in Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan ,Mongolia ,Uzbekistan ,and Turkey and a smaller one in Taoyuan County of Hunan province in south-central China.
Uyghurs are well- known for their singing and dancing along the ancient Silk Road , as they have for generations. Uygur means “union” in the Uygur language, and the Uygur community in China is mainly distributed in the scattering oases along Tianshuan Mountain including Kashgar, Hetian, Akesu, and Korla as well as Urumqi and Yili. Some of them live in Taoyuan and Changde Counties in the Hunan Province, and Kaifeng and Zhengzhou in the Henan Province.The Uyghurs are mainly engaged in agriculture: planting cotton , wheat, corn, and rice; they are skilled in gardening art as well.
