Sichuan Opera derives from local religious and folk festival performances blended with Beijing and Guangzhou styles. It dates back about 200 years (not so old by Chinese historical standards) and is immensely popular in Sichuan. The renown part of Sichuan opera is the face-mask-change, the actor can change his face masks in front of the audience and can not be seen how to change it!
