Wild Southern China 10D: Shanghai, Xidi, Hongcun, Chengkan, Huizhou old town, Wuyuan

Welcome to Shanghai, the most metropolis of China! Upon arrival, you'll be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel. The rest of today is at your leisure.

Today is a free day in Shanghai, you can enjoy your own time.

Today, you will take bullet train from Shanghai to Tunxi in the morning. Your guide will meet you in your centrally located Shanghai hotel, and head to the Shanghai raliway station to catch the 3-hour bullet train to Huangshan city. Upon arrival, you will be transferred Xidi Village for about one hour by car,  which is an old village with a history over 1000 years. Xidi is famous for the well-preserved houses with Anhui architecture that is mainly for black tiles and white walls, so that the village looks like a Chinese traditional water and ink painting. It is nice to view the old village in the afternoon and morning, particularly you should go to the Sightseeing Pavillion where you will get a bird view of the entire village.  Note: You will travel on your own on the train, Shanghai guide will help you transfer hotel/train station, and Huangshan guide will meet you at the exit of Railway Station of Huangshan when you arrive there by bullet train.

After hotel breakfast, you will take 30-minute car ride to Hongcun, which is a wonderful old village with nice pool and lake. You will visit the wooden carving and the picturesque lake. Enjoy the local food as well. It is amazing to take the pictures of the lake in Hongcun Village on the early morning and evening.

Today you will head to the Mount Huangshan. Firstly you will move to the back mountain Yungu Temple, where you will take a cable car up to the mountain, then start to hike. You have different routes to visit the mountains, your local guide will give you a suggestion as per your wish. Normally you will hike from Bai'eling to Bright Summit, and then to West Sea, then hike to the hotel for the first day, but it will be a long hike.

Overnight in the Xihai Hotel, or Beihai hotel on the mountain or similar hotel.(During the peak season, the hotels on the mountain can be fullly booked, we will arrange hotels at the foot of the mountain)

Note: The round-way cable car tickets are included. The cable car sometimes is very busy at the peak season, so you will wait for a long time.

It is a hull-day hiking day. You will hike to the front mountain, and then to the foot of the mountain. On the way you will enjoy the stunning mountain views with lots of trees. The hiking route will depend on season, and your local gudie will let you know how to hike in different season.

Later, you will be transferred to the downtown to check in the hotel in Tunxi.

Today you will head to Chengkan old village near Huangshan. This is an old village over 1800 years, the entire village is designed like a bagua pattern with many well-preserved old building.

Then you will head to the old town of Huizhou, the old name of Huangshan. As one of the oldest cities in China, Huizhou old city has been preserved very well for its original design including the yamen, city gates, gardens, and city wall etc.

Later, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Huangshan.

After hotel breakfast, you will take 1.5-hour car ride to Wuyuan for 100km. Firstly you will visit Likeng Village in Wuyuan. This is an old village with a history over 1000 years, and still there are well-preserved traditional houses, bridges, old trees in the living village. As the representative of Anhui architecture, you will view the white wall and black tiles houses here.

Then you will head to Huangling Village which is an old village with a history about 500 years. The entire village is built on the hill, the old houses are spreading layer by layer on the hills. It is wonderful to take a cable car to have a bird view of the village. In autumn, local farmers will put the veggies in the huge bamboo container to dry them under the sun. Due to the different colours of various veggies, it is amazing to view it in Wuyuan in autumn.

Later, you will be transferred to the inn in Wuyuan.

Free time in Wuyuan, and take the 3-hour bullet train back to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your Shanghai hotel.

Today is departure day, you will be transferred to Shanghai Airport to catch your flight back home, where the wonderful tour concludes.
