Dafen Oil Paintings Village is located in Buji Sub-district, Longgang District in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province in China. Covering only 0.4 skm, it is so well-known for the impressive oil paintings in the studios and shops all around the small area. As the art center, it has started the oil painting industry since later 1980s. Nowadays there are more than 10000 painters coming from all over China to gather here to pait or copy the famous oils paintings. It is estimated the average annual outcome of the oil paintings in Dafen Village is more than 1 million selling mainly to Europe and North America.
Amazingly most of the painters in Dafen Village have never got the training in the painting college, and they learned from their masters. The oil paintings here are very industrialized, there are different people taking in charge of specific part of the paintings, which means one painting might be done by various painters.
It is hard to tell the painters are artists, but it is quite fun to view so many oil paintings in Dafen Village. Hence it is called The First Oil Painting Village in China.
