Namtso Lake, in Tibetan language, means "the Heaven Lake". It is located in Nagqu Prefecture, about 260km from Lhasa in Tibet. Namtso Lake means 'the holy lake' in the Tibetan language.
Namtso Lake covers an area more than 1,920 square kilometers with a rectangle shape. With an altitude of 4,718 meters, it is the highest altitude salty lake in the world. Namtso Lake is one of the popular attractions in Tibet. It was complimented as "the most beautiful lake in China" by National Geography. Namtso Lake is renowned for the stunning landscape of pure water, blue sky, snow-capped mountains, and wild lives etc.
Namtso Lake is famous for the Holy Elephant Heaven Gate attraction, which is a hill looking like a holi elepant standing by the Namtso Lake.
