This typical day tour will let you explore the highlights of Urumqin, the capital city of Xinjiang Province in China, with a local guide. You will learn the history about Xinjiang and Urumqi, and Silk Road. Moreover, it is very interesting to wander around the huge bazaar here.
At 9:30am, your private tour guide will pick you up from your centrally located Urumqi hotel and then take a ride to Xinjiang Museum which closes on Mondays.
This museum is well-known for its mummies and relics from Xinjiang province. The first floor exhibits the relics and minorities' costumes, and the second floor is the renown mummies exhibition hall. These well-preserved mummies discovered in Turpan or Taklimakan Desert due to local dry climate. The Beauty of Loulan and Princess Xiaohe are the most well-known, buried around 3,800 years ago near in the Taklamakan Desert. The tattooed mummies from Qiemo are impressive for their facial patterns.
The lunch will be local Uyghur food, you will taste the pilaf, kabab and Nang bread etc. Afterwards you will head to the the Hongguang Shan Giant Buddha, the new statue is at approximately 38.8 meters (128 feet) tall.
Then you will move to the Red Hill, a traditional Chinese-style pagoda standing on the top of the hill that is the symbol of the City. You will have a bird-view of the entire city of Urumqi on the top of the Red Hill.
Later you will wander around the renown Erdaoqiao Grand Bazaar, which is wonderful place to view all sorts of souvenirs from China and central Asian countries.
Afterwards you will be transferred back to your Urumqi hotel where the tour concludes.
