Urho Ghost City is situated in Karamay, Xinjiang, China. It covers about 10 square kilometers with an altitude of 350meter, about 100 kilometers away from downtown of the city Karamay. The name "ghost city" is for the frequent strong winds that whistle and howl over a series of yardang formations at night, sounding like ghosts yelling here.
Moreover the Ghost City is renowned for its Yardang landform that looks like different monsters standing in the huge gobi desert.
Urho Ghost City is shaped by wind moving over what was once the bottom of a lake. It has also been used as a location for several famous movies, including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
